1/7/07 17:04 - Not a good time to live in Glasgow

Just turned the TV from the News channel to see the start of the Concert in Wembley Stadium London in memory of Princess Diana. Duran Duran are singing their hearts out, and it looks as if the rain has stopped.

Here in Glasgow it is raining very heavy with lots of thunder, I feel for the people at Glasgow airport who are waiting to board planes to go on holiday.
According to the news Terminal 1 is now open. I have heard a couple of flights go over not a many as usual. Last night is was eerily quite as the airport was closed after the terror attack, I live 10 minutes drive to the north of Glasgow Airport so I am on the flight path, I am used to hearing aircraft of all shapes and sizes go over my house.
This is the first time I have experienced a terror attack close to home, we hear the news about London and it just seems so far away. But it feels different when it is on your own doorstep.
It was amazing that no one was killed yesterday, when the SUV ploughed into
the entrance of terminal 1 at Glasgow Airport. The terrorist didn’t do the damage they were intending to do, both were caught by police and one is in critical condition at the Royal Alexandra Hospital after leaving the burning SUV on fire himself. Police said last night that the attack was linked to the 2 car bombs that failed to detonate in London on Friday. And latest news is that 5 peoples have been arrested, The two in Glasgow, two caught in the middle of the night on the M6 motorway in England and 1 person in Liverpool. There are a number of police raids going on in England and a couple of houses are being searched in Glasgow just west of the airport.
I am glad that my holiday has passed, and I didn’t experience any disruptions of any kind.

I have been horrible all week with a head cold, it just doesn’t seem to be shifting at all, and I’ve got a headache at the moment so I’m going to take some medication and lie on the couch and watch the “Concert for Diana” live from Wembley. Keifer Sutherland has just come on stage, he has introduced The Feeling.

27/5/07 00:00 - 2nd Week of my Holiday

Monday, First of my shopping trips, we went to Vaughan Mills Mall.. it’s a huge mall and it goes round in a circle .. feels like your walking for miles .. I think we did walk miles … Stuart got kitted out with some new clothes. I got a set of headphones for my Ipod. When we got home Stuart cooked dinner we had Fish.

Tuesday, Stuart was back at work .. So I spent most of the day chatting to my friends on MSN it was so good being in their Time zone. When Stuart got home at 8pm he cooked dinner and surprise surprise we had Fish again.

Wednesday was another quiet day chatting to my friends on MSN, reading books and sitting in the sun. On Wednesday night we went out to dinner with Stuart’s ex, Sarven
I don’t know why, but Sarven always likes to see me while I’m here. He finished with Stuart 2 years ago ….. they are still friends.

Thursday was a lovely day here in Toronto weather wise .. so I spent most of the day out in the sun. reading my book and again chatting on MSN.

Friday was another lovely day and another day spent reading and chatting on MSN.
On Friday night we went out shopping to Yorkdale mall and guess what .. Stuart got More new clothes. I actually talked him into getting a pair of slim fit jeans. He wears baggy jeans all the time .. He says he’s fat, I told him he’s not .. He weighs 132 pound and is 5 foot 7.. there is not an ounce of fat on him. He looks really nice in the new jeans.

Saturday after Stuarts Gym class (one of 5 he takes in a week) guess what, we went shopping again. Stuart had to take is car to be repaired, the engine light was on, but they couldn’t fix it .. They said they would have to contact Toyota on Monday. and then get back to him . While waiting for the car, we went into EB Games in Brampton and guess what they has a Wii in stock so I have a happy son this evening playing is Wii
Our shopping trip lasted until almost 7.30pm so I’m all shopped out.

Well I leave North America tomorrow (Sunday) at 5.40pm and Arrive into Glasgow at 04.50am. I don’t want to leave here. I know the second week of my holiday sounds boring but it wasn’t. I had quiet days and busy evenings, but it’s soon be all over.

It was great seeing Stuart and all friends in North America. Roll on next year.

22/5/07 17:34 - First Week of my Holiday

As you know I arrived on the 11th May. I spend 2 days in Toronto with Stuart.
On Monday I drove to Chatham Ont to visit with my friend Dorothy, it took me about 3 and half hours to get there.. I did stop for a coffee on the way.

It was so nice to see Dorothy, she's almost 81 years old and I noticed a big difference in her.. She is getting slower doing things but still insists that she do everything herself. On Monday night we just sat and chatted about everything .. I love listening to her stories even though I have heard some of them before. On Tuesday we went to the mall and to my favourite store. 'Cotton Ginny' the manageress saw me come in to the store and came right to the door and gave me a big hug.. I only see her once a year and I thought that it was really nice that she remembered me.

Tuesday afternoon and evening I spent with [info]doodlethoughts. At around 5pm a storm started brewing and the wind blew over the BBQ, so we had the get it upright in the wind and rain. We went out to eat at around 7 and the sun was splitting the trees it was lovely, when we got out of the restaurant the rain couldn't have come down any harder and there was thunder and lightning... Where were our coats? Not with us that's for sure, it was a mad dash to the car and we were soaked even though it was a short run.
By the time I left at 11 it was dry again … I had a great time.
Thanks [info]doodlethoughts

On Wednesday I went shopping AGAIN and got some shoes , after dinner Dorothy was loading the dishwasher and wouldn’t let me help and she tripped and almost fell and she banged her leg on the dishwasher door. The blood was gushing everywhere. Luckily her daughter Judi lives in the same building so we called her and she came up the bandage her leg. I have since heard that Judi took her to the doctors and she got an antibiotic incase of infection and in an e-mail today I heard that her leg is still bleeding.
I really think the next step for her is a residential home, because if she had been alone when she fell who knows what could have happened.

Thursday morning I left Chatham and Canada and took myself across the border to Michigan.
I was held up for about 45 minutes at Customs, there was a line waiting for a green card.
I got the Saginaw about 2.30 to spend a couple of days with
[info]tinawiesen

On Thursday afternoon we drove to Grand Rapids to visit with
[info]caseystratton and [info]bembacolora
We went out to dinner, and then back to [info]bembacolora And listened to some music and talked all night long . It’s been a long long time since I’d stayed up all night , and I had so much fun., I haven’t laughed so much in ages . After not a lot of sleep, [info]tinawiesen and I went out for breakfast … at 4.pm ha ha.. After we had breakfast we went shopping for some music. I bought 9 cd’s
We were only going to stay in Grand Rapids one night but
[info]bembacolora was feeling a wee bit lonely as his close friends we out of town so we stayed another night.
[info]tinawiesen cooked a lovely meal .

On Saturday we drove back to Saginaw and I had a lovely visit with
[info]tinawiesen family , Bob and Buck .
Time seems to go so fast on Sunday it all came to an end and I had to drive back to Toronto. I left Saginaw about 1.15pm and got back to TO about 7.30pm .. I stopped once for coffee. I was a bit scared driving to almost downtown Toronto but I made it…. Thank goodness the traffic wasn’t to busy .
It was a wonderful week

And [info]bembacolora dog Louie is a wee cutie

12/5/07 20:39 - JET LAG

Last night , I managed to stay up awake until 10pm. I went to bed and read for about 5 minutes then conked out.
I stirred a bit when Stuart came home, he told me it was 11pm.
I woke up at 6am.. wide awake , I thought I can't get up at this time, I'll get into trouble ... So i just switched on my ipod  and lifted my book and read for a couple of hours...  I heard Stuart get up about 8am so i got up then too ...
Stuart had laundry to do so he was up and down to the laundry room. He then went to the gym, he left me to fold the laundry that was kind of him .
After lunch we went food shopping , Food is expensive here ... much more than in Scotland ....
Stuart bought me a chair so I can sit on  his balcony when  i go out for my smoke. I'm not allowed to smoke indoors
Tomorrow is Mothers day . so I've been told I'm going out for dinner.. I have to pick up my rental car too so I can start my adventures on Monday . First post of call is Chatham Ont stay there for a couple of days and then I'm off to Saginaw.... Can't wait ....
I should be over the jetlag by tomorrow I hope ..

11/5/07 20:34 - I'm in Canada

It's 8.30pm here in Toronto and my mind and body is in a different time zone .. they think they are in Scotland at 1.30am and should be sleeping.
It has been a long long day. I thought I was going to get a lie in this morning or was that yesterday morning.. who knows.. I woke at the usual tine 7.00 am... I didn't get out of bed until 8, My cases were all packed and I only had to get my self ready to leave for the airport at 10am.
My friend Lesley arrived at about 5 to 10 and we were just leaving the house when my phone rang..
It was my work wanting to know who to make a cheque payable too for goods we were waiting for. If they had looked in my file of accounts paid they would have seen that I'd paid it two days earlier. The silly company send in the Invoice via the fax then the send in a hard copy by mail, so I think they must have received the hard copy this morning.

Any way .. I got to the airport 3 hours before the flight was due to leave, Lesley had a hospital appointment so she just dropped me off. so i sat a people watched for a couple of hours had 2 starbucks coffees and then made my way to the departure lounge.
The flight left right on time at 1.30pm and once up in the air I read my book and listened to my ipod Casey and Darren. The food was quite good. I arrived in Toronto at 3.45pm Canadian time .. I text Stu to tell him I had landed .
He was still at work he told me to wait outside and he's swing by to pick me up after work . I had to wait abouy 1/2 hours after I got outside.. The plane landed at 3.45 as I said and I was outside with my luggage at 4.15. I"ve never been thru customs and got my luggage that quick before. We got to his apartment about 5.45 dropped off my cases and straight back out for something to eat .. We went to a Sushi restaurant ( my 1st time) it was really good .. then back here for him to have a shower and go out on a date..  My 1st night in Canada and my son goes out on a date.
Well anyway here I am in Canada messing about with PC and I'm looking forward to seeing my friends.
I'll see you all soon ..........   Please forgive me if my spelling is back .. my excuse Jetlag

8/5/07 18:45 - 3 Days to go

My luggage is out of the cupboard
I've made 2 lists,  Carry- on and main luggage.
Hope I can fit everything in

I need to go to the grocery store to-night to pick up cookies (as usual I'm leaving everything to the last gasp), and then I'll start packing,
Maybe not packing but just putting the stuff that is going into the case .. Well it's a start ......

7/5/07 17:11 - Count Down to Canada

It is only 4 days till I'm jetting off to my holiday home in North America. Stuart would have a fit if he read this.. it's his home I'm going too.

I have finally ordered my Canadian and US currency  I've to pick that  up on Wednesday. I've only been talking about it for a couple of weeks and had the money in the bank that length of time too.. and when i decide to get it done the exchange rate is way too low...for me anyway.

I still have to get the suitcase out the cupboard. I think I have bought everything I need....
I still have to pick up a couple of things for my friends and some cookies for Stuart. The cookies might not happen, I'll need to see what room I have case. I might have had room ... if he hadn't e-mailed me at work last week and asked if he ordered some stuff on-line and have it delivered to me , could I bring it over with me.
I said sure , but then it was .... Can I use your credit card to pay for it ..... I tend to spoil him for the  2 weeks I see him every year
.  So mom said yes....

In our telephone conversation on Friday, he was telling me that the Nintendo Wii is only $250. "Why you telling me?" says I... Guess what he want's me to buy it . I haven't told him yet, but his grandpa has given me $100 for him so he can put that towards it. Or I can ...we'll see.

30/3/07 17:56 - I was doing fine.....

As all my friends know, my dog Molly was put to sleep last Thursday
She had been very sick and her pain meds were not working anymore. the muscles in her back legs had gone and she could hardly walk. And last Wednesday night she was vomitting and it was dark blood. The vet said she had internal bleeding, I'm thinking the last lot of meds she had done in her stomach.

I have stopped coming home from work in my lunch hour and I'm not rushing to get home at night as it still feels strange coming home to an empty house.

I thought I was doing fine until,in the mail yesterday, was,  what I thought the final bill from the vet clinic but it wasn't it was a sympathy card and a poem. I just broken down.

here is the poem

If it should be........

If it should be that I grow weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle can't be won.

You will be sad, I understand,
Don't let your grief then stay your hand,
For this day, more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.

We've had so many happy years,
What has to come can hold no fears,
You'd not want me to suffer so,
The time has come to let me go.

Take me to where my needs they'll tend,
And please stay with me to the end,
Hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see,
The kindness that you did for me,
Although my tail it's last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Please do not grieve it must be you,
Who has this painful thing to do,
We've been so close, we two, these years,
Don't let your heart hold back the tears.
                    ***********

It'll take a while to get used to being on my own again the house, but I know I will be fine.

Thank you to all my friends for their kind messages, they were very much appreciated.

26/12/06 19:52 - Back to work to-morrow

I hope every one had a very merry christmas and spent some quailty time with their families.
It was just Dad and I this year. Every year I have to drive to my brothers house. so this year I just wanted to stay home and I did.
I think Dad had a good time, telling me all his stories AGAIN. I think he forgets that I've heard them all a million times. One I heard from him recently was about how the teddy bear got his name. Back in Novemeber Dad and I were out shopping and I asked him what he would like for christmas. as usual he said nothing. then he spies a Teddy bear in a store ans he said " Just get me a Roosevelt" Knowing what his stories are like I reluctantly asked him what he meant."Well " he said a Roosevelt is a Teddy bear and that they got that name because the president of the US Theredore Roosevelt was always out shootong bears so they called the bear after him "Teddy".. Now I don't know if this is true or not, So please don’t quote me on this. So yesterday just before dinner I gave him his gift. And he was delighted and he laughed and guess what I heard the story again.

My son Stuart called from Canada, just his usual 2 seconds saying “Call me Back Mom” I always call him back and the call can last anytime up to 1 hour depending what we have to say.

He had a lovely chat with his Grandpa and I chatted to him while I made the dinner (Thank goodness for cordless phones) and he sent me via  MSN the video of his newly decorated apartment, so I put it on a disc along with the videos he sent of  it  when it was empty and of the view from his 11 story high balcony. (He can see the CN tower and Lake Ontario from there). I showed it to my Dad and he liked it. I won’t talk with Stuart now until next year. I call him at Midnight (UK Time ) and then again Midnight (Canadian Time) I am always with him “At the Bells”

So back to work to-morrow.  A busy day or three as it is the end of our financial year and everything book keeping wise has to be done before close of business on Friday. And we close at 12noon on Friday .

Once again I hope everyone on my F-list had a great holiday.

7/12/06 19:35 - Vet Update

Molly was at the vet today and we got her pain
medication.

I asked about her breathing and her sleeping and the Vet sounded Molly's  chest
and we found out she has a slight heart mummer, which is putting strain on her lungs, and that's why her breathing has been sounding funny.
So she has not to do any strenuous exercise ( not that she does anyway) and I've to take her back if I think it sounds any worse, and then they will x-ray and give her medication. The vet said there is not really anything to worry about she just has "Old Dog Syndrome" and she could be with me for another couple of years. So that is good news

5/12/06 20:18 - Taking Molly to the vet

I’ve made an appointment to take Molly to the vet.
She goes on Thursday at 5.30pm. She needs her pain medication as we have almost run out. She hasn’t seen the vet since May. I’ve just been getting repeat prescriptions. I think Molls might have a cold as she has been sneezing a lot and her breathing is a bit louder than usual. And she’s been sleeping a lot too.
The other morning the alarm went off at 7am and I got up went into the kitchen put the coffee on and had to go back into the bedroom to wake Molly up, I called her name a couple times and then I had to check see if she was breathing. She was thank goodness but she was in a very sound sleep, and it took her a couple of minutes to get on her feet and she looked dazed and confused. She is usually up waiting for the alarm to go off. I might add there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with her tonite she is outside barking at nothing. I hope it’s nothing.

5/12/06 17:19 - Honest .. I was nice .. the whole year

Your Christmas Song Is

Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer

Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walking home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe.

You're not looking to the family holiday thing...
Unless someone gets run over by a reindeer!

Never heard of this christmas song

17/11/06 19:19 - My turn Pinched from Tina

You are The Empress

Beauty, happiness, pleasure, success, luxury, dissipation.

The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents,
beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home
decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.

The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.

16/11/06 20:19 - MY MOAN FOR THE DAY

I have a week off from work next week and I’m so glad……...

Work has been getting me down recently and I think most of my colleagues feel the same. We are a very busy company and are short staffed in the administration department, but the MD will not hire more staff. Everyone is doing 2 or 3 different jobs and not getting the chance to do their own jobs efficiently, me included and this pisses me off.

Today I discovered that they are bringing in a temp to cover part of my job while I am off next week. I have to induct him into the company to-morrow (health & safety stuff) and show him what needs to be done. I don’t mind doing that but Friday is one of my really busy days and I don’t think I’ll get everything done before I finish up at 4.30pm.

Why can’t bosses see that we need more staff? Are we all coping to well multi-tasking that he thinks we don’t need more staff?

The only reason the temp is coming in, is because the person who usually covers my job has refused to do Credit Control, (you know phoning our debtors and asking for payments to be made). And I don’t blame her one wee bit, she is doing the job of 2 people as it is and will be doing one of my daily tasks.

All we need is a full time receptionist. We had 2 part-time receptionists, one left in April and wasn’t replaced and the other fell pregnant soon after and has not had a very good pregnancy and was off sick a lot before her maternity leave kicked in.

So we are short of a Receptionist and he won’t employ one on a permanent basis.

Well moan over and roll on Friday 4.30pm and I’m out of there for a whole week.
